Position Summary:
The Fiber Repair and Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fiber services along with additional services to customers, while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Fiber Repair and Maintenance Technician is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly position. Overtime should be expected with this position.
Travel:
Travel is typical for this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Fiber Splicing Technician position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fiber optic stripping, cleaving, ribbionizing and splicing
- Testing using a variety of equipment such VFL and OTDR and recording results
- Following specific workmanship instructions and multitasking
- Must be receptive to changing priorities
- Ability to fusion splice SM or MM fiber optic cable: to include terminate various types of fiber optic connectors
- Work with engineers and OSP management to perform fusion splicing as directed
- Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
- Knowledge using Fiber Light Meter
- Installation and dressing of fiber optic cable both aerial and underground
- Provide management with detail reports of field splicing activity
- Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status in order to meet designated goal
- Maintain a positive and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision
- All other duties as assigned or needed to complete the day to day operation of the department
Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in outdoor settings. Outdoor work may be required in residential and commercial areas, construction sites, and field facilities. Performance of the position requires working safely and may require working outdoors in all weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on the full range of outdoor work surfaces.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus in addition, the position may require frequent movement and activity relating to using keyboards, viewing data on computer displays, and communicating verbally and in writing to the needs of others.
Pay Scale
$24-$27/hour
