We are seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer for a 6+ month contract-to-hire opportunity in Denver, Colorado.
The Role: Prepping outside plant Fiber Optic cables into splice enclosures, understanding and adhering to the special requirements of Fiber Optic strands. Fusion splicing along with OTDR testing and link loss testing.
The Main Responsibilities:
- Splicing on new construction and restoration for a variety of cable types such as loose tube, ribbon, micro, and OPGW.
- Fiber Characterization test experience including CD, PMD, OTDR, IOLM, and Power Loss.
- Work with the Network Operations Center for final acceptance and testing of all newly installed equipment and rings.
- Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems.
- Communicate construction scenarios clearly to other team members, and outside parties, and work in conjunction with field engineering to update records.
- Fluently read telecom or cable outside plant records for turn-up and troubleshooting an outside plant fiber network.
- Must have a clean driving record as well as the required safety skills and be expected to follow our safety program rules.
- Schedule work and complete tasks in a timely manner to create an efficient work environment.
- The ideal applicant will be experienced in prepping outside plant Fiber Optic cables into splice enclosures, understanding and adhering to the special requirements of Fiber Optic strands.
- You have an in-depth understanding of fusion splicing along with OTDR testing and link loss testing.
What We Look for in a Candidate
- 1+ years' experience.
- Strong telecom equipment installation, testing, and initial turn-up experience.
- Splicing and restoration experience, experience with both AC and DC power.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and providing as-built drawings to engineering.
- One or more years in the telecom industry with knowledge of recent technology and relevant experience.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. Company truck and equipment is provided.
Pay rate: $25-$30/hour, paid time and a half for overtime.
A typical work week is between 40 - 50 hours per week.
Requires some overtime and/or weekends as well as on-call duty.
