FHA-DE Underwriter

CountryPlace Mortgage is a nationwide personal property and mortgage lender. We are looking for a Residential Mortgage Underwriter (FHA-DE Underwriter) to join our loan production team in our Plano, TX office. This role plays a crucial part in our growing production unit analyzing loan applications for the appropriate credit decision adhering to investor guidelines.

As a Residential Mortgage Underwriter at CountryPlace Mortgage Ltd., you will collaborate with Loan Originators, Loan Processors, Compliance team and other essential departments. Manage the entire credit review process for optimal credit application results. You will assist in contributing to the continuous improvement of processes with a focus on our borrowers and retail partners.

• Full underwriting authority – FNMA, FHA and Conventional loans. (Must have Chums Certification)
• Analyze and evaluate all aspects of borrower credit, employment, income and asset profile ensuring that all bank, investor and regulatory standards are met.
• Review title commitment, appraisal and validate required disclosures meet investor guidelines and standards.
• Review and clear all conditions of approval up to including issuing clear to close.
• Comprehensive understanding of investor requirements relating to Manufactured Housing.
• Use independent discretion and judgment to make final decision on acceptance or decline of loan request.
• Collaborate with the compliance team to maintain compliance policies in accordance with industry regulations.
• Review title commitment, appraisal, survey and validate required disclosures meet investor guidelines and standards.
• Generate innovative ideas to enhance the quality and comprehensibility of procedures.
• Maintain a company policy and procedures manual.
• Ad hoc projects as needed
• Takes and active role by making recommendations for continuous process improvement within the underwriting process.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy within a fast paced environment

• BA/BS degree required
• 3+ years of FHA, FNMA and Conventional loan underwriting experience (FHA-DE, CHUMS assigned for 3+ years)
• Strong writing skills with expertise in proper English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Manufactured Housing industry experience a plus
