Fertility Patient Financial Counselor

If you would have started this week as a Financial Counselor, you might have:

• Worked with a patient to find a way to pay for IVF that they never knew was possible and help them get closer to achieving their goal of starting a family
• Worked with a team of experts to figure out a complicated problem with a patient and their insurance coverage
• Partnered with our clinical staff to work on getting eager patients through treatment as soon as possible
• Presented to leadership a solution to a long-lasting problem regarding insurance coverage

What a Financial Counselor is responsible for:

• Working with patients via phone or email regarding their benefits and treatment
• Maintain accurate patient accounts to make sure the patient is aware of payment and any information requested is up to date
• Verify eligibility and determine copays, deductibles, etc. for fertility treatment in conjunction with the financial team
• Collect payments for IVF procedure
• Explain the cost of IUI/IVF and offer different packages and bundles as they apply
• Work with the Billing and Coding team to make sure all information presented is accurate and timely
• Other duties as assigned

You will be a great fit as a Financial Counselor if you have:

• Minimum 2 to 4 years of medical business office experience, with working knowledge of healthcare billing and collections, insurance/benefits, and patient interaction
• Must have experience reading and understanding payer remittance advice. Includes the ability to differentiate between allowed charges, contractual adjustments, line-item denials/reasons, patient responsibility (co-pay, co-insurance, and deductibles), etc.
• Bachelor's Degree a plus
• Experience working in an OB/GYN, plastic surgeon, chiropractic, or dermatology office is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, patients, and insurance company
• Strong oral and written communication skills, independent worker, detailed-oriented, computer savvy
• Proficient with Microsoft programs, specifically Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
• A high level of customer service essential
