This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Proving Ground on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The ROD / TUTD Feature Owner is responsible for these features on all vehicles that General Motors produces. They are the expert for the company. This position covers Regen on Demand, both discrete and variable, as well as the Tap-up/Tap-down features. There is also close collaboration with the ETRS feature team. The Feature Owner is the central point of contact for new technologies and implementations of new technologies and feature variants.
This position will interface with numerous activities including, Safety, Propulsion, BCM, VCU, Software and Calibration, Hardware, and more.
What You'll Do:
The voice of the features, and the customer needs, across the company. Tactical participant with all software and strategy discussions that involve the features.
Owns/Maintains the Feature Roadmaps and SE activities including FTS, DFMEA.
Leads the implementation of SDV 2.0.
Works extensively with the subsystem and component areas to ensure proper feature implementation.
Chairs appropriate TRBs to ensure alignment across hardware and software activities.
Works with the Safety team (SFI) to help root cause emerging issues and SUFS.
Collaborates with Validation on system verification/validation plans – drives team to create, template, and handoff standard work. Maintains verification for new improvements that require technical execution Validation and VIP teams do not have the capability to accomplish.
Leads the implementation of analytic and bench activities to move to the “Left side of the V” for GM’s 2025 vision.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
Candidate must have one of the following engineering degrees: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering
5 years of experience in System development, verification, validation and vehicle manufacturing processes
5-10 years of experience in propulsion controls, hardware design and failure modes
Proactive / results driven individual with high levels of initiative and leadership capability.
In-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering methods (e.g. structured design) and effective scoping of the required work products
High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
High level of oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to lead teams and negotiate effectively with others to meet mutual goals
Be comfortable and willing to make decisions and assume the risk with those decisions.
Needs to be open minded, optimistic, approachable, easy to work with and willing to mentor individuals within their own area and other organizations
Understanding of serial data communications
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Candidate must have one of the following engineering degrees: MS in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering.
Understanding of systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORs, DNG)
Understand appropriate content for Vehicle and System Level Specifications
Understand the capability and application of various analytical tools
Understanding of system reliability, safety, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies and processes
Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools
Working knowledge of INCA and CAN communication tools (ie, NeoVI…)
Knowledge and experience with GM’s Global Vehicle Development Process
Working knowledge of SUFS/PRTS System
