This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at 18-1 Melbourne

 

Salary Range: $36,487.62 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for the day-to-day intake and processing of offenders placed/released on community supervision into the community corrections information and tracking system (Offender Based Information System, OBIS) and/or the day-to-day collection, review, and entry of score sheets into OBIS.
  • Interprets, codes, and enters documents relating to offender sentencing and monetary obligations into the CDC and/or OBIS databases, which may require the use of Automated Correctional Task System, Felony Offense Coding Manual and/or Database Screen Search.  This may include the entry of sentencing guideline score sheets as needed.
  • Obtains, researches, interprets, and verifies offenders identifying data, sentencing information, and monetary obligations to establish the initial computer records for new commitments.  Assists in the coordination of both initial and pre-release orientation programs of offenders.
  • Requests criminal record information through NCIC/FCIC, the department and local criminal justice databases.  Screens new intakes for Florida Department of Law Enforcement registration.  Interprets information in the preparation of the prior record.
  • Develops, coordinates, and monitors offender community service work activities.  Assists in monitoring offender job needs and work/program assignments.
  • Photographs offenders for placement on the department's internet web site.  Processes offender photographs and ensures that department quality standards are met prior to placement on the web site.
  • Ensures proper security measures are followed according to Department Policy.
  • Completes quality assurance audits to ensure accurate, complete and timely entry of data into the management information system and/or preparation and submission of all required agency forms and statistical recaps.  Generates reports for management.
  • Assists in the timely completion of interstate compact transfers and the monitoring of offenders with out-of-state detainers.

  • Ability to probe and obtain critical information.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of assignments.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to prepare various reports and to work independently.
  • Ability to analyze and/or update documents as it relates to sentencing and conditions of supervision.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or its Equivalent

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience using excel spreadsheets.
  • Three years of clerical experience.
