The Opportunity
Come play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of our Fire Prevention Division as the next Assistant Fire Marshal/Captain Fire Prevention for the City of Coppell Fire Department!
Responsibilities and opportunities in this role include conducting fire inspections, plan reviews, and fire cause and origin investigations. Championing Coppell's Culture and embodying our Core Competencies, you will supervise a Fire Inspector through career development and ensure accountability. As the Manager on Duty in the Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal's absence, you'll perform essential tasks, showcasing your leadership and collaboration skills. Engage with developers, architects, and engineers to ensure fire code compliance, attend key meetings, and conduct plan reviews for various projects. Your role extends to overseeing pre-incident planning and hydrant inspection programs, demonstrating your commitment to fire safety.

Pay Plan
This opportunity is non-exempt and on the Fire Department Step Plan #FD4 1-4. The full Step Plan range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range: $38.16
FD4,1 $38.16 ($111,117.04)
FD4,2 $39.49 ($115,006.14)
FD4,3 $40.88 ($119,031.36)
FD4,4 $42.31 ($123,197.46)

Eligibility
Experience

  • Associate's degree, or higher, in Fire Science, or a related field.
  • Valid Class C Drivers License with a good driving record.
  • Valid Texas Commission on Fire Protection

  • Intermediate Fire Inspector

  • Intermediate Fire Investigator
  • Plans Examiner

  • Valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement

  • Intermediate Peace Officer

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret building and fire codes, ordinances, building construction documents, plans, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Ability to maintain their Peace Officer License, including but not limited to annual firearms qualifications and defensive tactics training.
