Job Title: Farmers Market "Coffee Cart" Manager

Summary:
The Farmers Market Manager is responsible for managing the overall operations of our outdoor cafe experience at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in an effective and efficient manner. They will provide leadership and direction by promoting a positive work environment through open communication, coaching, training, developing, and managing employees in delivering exceptional customer service and high quality products while being knowledgeable about all products sold.

This is a hands-on role, working side by side with teammates to run the market booth successfully. The successful candidate will have a great rapport with their teammates and is able to inspire themselves and their team to do their best. The market is rain or shine.
Availability:
- Tuesday 8:45A - 3P, Thursday 8:45A - 3P, Saturday 6:45A - 3P
- Availability to attend a monthly Friday leadership meeting in Oakland is a must
- Availability to attend a quarterly team training workshop in Oakland is a must
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day operations and manage all market employees
- Oversee cleanliness, organization and success of the market
- Provide leadership and direction by promoting a positive work environment, open communication, coaching, training and team development
- Maintain a positive company culture
- Ensure market team is equipped with all skills to perform all duties with excellence, and are individually able to deliver delicious coffee and exceptional customer service
- Manage team schedules and break and lunch compliance for all team members
- Troubleshoot and cover gaps in scheduling; available and on call to address unexpected issues that may arise
- Hire, onboard and train all new retail employees
- Develop team members to move into new positions; delegate responsibilities for continued growth of team; Lead by example
- Ensure every drink or food item is created and served with our excellence standard
- Interface with all customers, vendors and staff in a friendly and respectful manner
- Inventory and order all products for the market
- Ensure all sales goals are met
- Promote market specials and upsale goals
- Troubleshoot negative customer experiences
- Collaborate with the roastery for all coffee and commissary needs
- Responsible for financial reporting, location-based P&Ls and goal audits
- Responsible for tracking and reviewing employee time cards and overtime
- Responsible for cash handling, bank deposits, and tips
- Responsible for ensuring all products and menu items meet our standards of excellence and are suitable for resale
- Responsible for FIFO’ing all items, reducing waste and maintaining costs
- Responsible for being a company and product expert
- Responsible for scheduling inventory deliveries from all vendors
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment and ensure safety procedures are being followed
- Check in weekly with ownership to discuss goals, changes, and/or updates
- Send end-of-day recap report
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of managerial experience and 1 year of specialty coffee experience is a MUST
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand 8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and products
- Exposure to various food products, possibly including some that may have allergens, such as milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy, among others

- Able to work well in fast paced and evolving environment
Requirements:
Must have ServSafe Food Handler’s Permit within 30 days of employment
Mandatory training at our roastery in West Oakland
