Job Description
Responsibilities Under the Direction of Farm Supervisor:
● Assist in Crop Planning
● Assist in crop propagation in a greenhouse and shade house environment
● Assist with Invoicing and other administrative farm needs
● Construct field rows including irrigation systems
● Construction of garden structures such as high tunnels, raised beds, fruit cages, and supports.
● Cooler room maintenance and cleaning
● Ensure a safe environment for staff and guests by adhering to safety and health regulations and speed limits
● Fixing and maintenance of fences
● Harvest produce in accordance to food safety standards.
● Knowledge of and repair/maintenance of farm water/irrigation systems
● Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden, greenhouses, surrounding areas, and grounds
● Maintain garden paths and signposts
● Must be willing to work in the farm store on Saturdays
● Operate heavy machinery as directed for garden site preparation
● Other tasks as directed
● Perform basic field maintenance such as weeding, hoeing, staking, deadheading, tying, or cutting back plants as directed
● Pest control
● Placing signs, opening gates, and preparing farm store daily
● Planting transplants into the field
● Service all garden equipment and machinery
● Wash, process, and package garden produce for sale in tribal Farmstand and for distribution to customers
● Weeding inside and outside of fence lines
● Work with hand tools and basic light machinery
Requirements:
● 90-day probationary period applies
● Ability to handle a range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools
● Ability to work independently and in a team environment
● Availability Monday through Friday with some required weekends
● Friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Interest in gardening and developing a tribal and community food source
● Must be at least 18 years of age
● Must have a valid CA driver’s license
● Periodic employee evaluation 6 months/year
● Solid understanding of health and safety rules and legislation
● Strong work ethic and punctuality
● Willingness to learn gardening skills through on-the-job training and participation in other training/education programs as directed
Preferred Skills:
● Cash handling in a retail environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
