Farm Wheat Crop Manager

Job Summary

Hall Farms, LLC is looking for a Crop manager in our Pingree location to manage all aspects of wheat and hay crops. You'll be managing 3500 acres of wheat and 1500 acres of Hay. This is a salaried position and pay will be DOE.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

• Plan and supervise the planting, cultivating, harvesting, and storing of crops
• Monitor and maintain irrigation throughout the growing season
• Manage planting and harvesting operations
• Issue fertilizer and chemical plans
• Coordinate fertilizer and chemical plans with Farm General Manager
• Oversee and direct farm labor efforts (H2A, FT, and Seasonal Labor)
• Maintain Farm equipment when not in use
• Manage and implement crop protection programs
• Continually inspect fields and advise the Farm Managers on problems, issues, and schedules
• Be able to provide an account of work done by team members
• Coordinate receiving and storage of crop
• Track hours of workers for specified crops and submit hours for billing to assigned contact
• Verify safety trainings are completed by employees monthly

Supervision of Others

• Farm Laborers (H2A, FT, and Seasonal)

Work Environment

• Typically work is performed in an outdoor environment
• Additional responsibilities may be in an office/shop setting

Physical Demands

• Able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
• Able to move around farm setting
• Frequent use of phone, computer, and office equipment
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required

• Thorough knowledge of farm equipment and materials and ability to manage the use of materials and equipment efficiently and economically
• Two or more years of experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Adheres to the company’s values and ethical expectations
• Able to self-manage and meet required deadlines.
• Able to work in a high-energy, high-volume environment.

Preferred

• Spanish proficiency
• Background/education in agriculture
• Previous farm management experience
