At the UNL Panhandle Research, Extension & Education Center, we innovate and conduct research to make life better for Nebraska ag producers and rural communities.
As a Farm Hand II, you will:
- Provide support for the crop production program at the Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center.
- Perform field work including tillage, planting, cultivation, irrigation, spraying, and harvest of row crops.
- Service and repair farm equipment, maintain shop tools, and perform general farm upkeep.
- Record and organize data.
- Provide leadership and task assignment for part-time labor and hourly student workers.
Class B CDL and a Nebraska pesticide applicators license required within six months of hire. Position is located in Scottsbluff, NE. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Ag Research Technician II.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- High school diploma plus four years of experience in irrigated row crop production,
OR
- Associate’s degree plus two years of experience in irrigated row crop production. Additional relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience must include use and maintenance of farm equipment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to keep detailed field and equipment maintenance records, and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer knowledge including email, spreadsheet, and word processing.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Posted Salary $18.50/hr minimum
