Job Description
The Family Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Family Services system for Head Start and Early Head Start. This position works collaboratively with Early Head Start Teachers and their immediate supervisors. Other responsibilities include working in partnership with the Family Services team to establish, implement and monitor systems for the delivery of Family Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Level 1: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), and four years of experience in social services
- Level 2: Associates Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field, and two years of experience in social services.
- Level 3: Bachelor Degree in Social and 1 year experience in social services.
- Supervision or management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Utilizes effective communication skills with children, families, staff, and community members. Ability to follow through on instructions, both written and oral. Intermediate computer proficiencies with MS Office, Teams, Outlook, Zoom and databases.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Registration with the Criminal History Registry of the Child Care Division.
- Driver qualification status required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job and satisfactory drive record for previous 3 years required.
- Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Supervision (50%)
- Directs and supervises the work of Family Educators, and the Family Services work of non-direct report Early Head Start Teachers.
- Guides, monitors and provides oversight in the completion of Family Services duties.
- Works in partnership with the Health Specialist to guide, monitor and provide oversight in the completion of health specific job duties.
- Develops job descriptions, interview/hires, trains and evaluates the performance of Family Educators.
- Supports Family Educators in complying with reporting systems related to Parent, Family and Community Engagement, child abuse, and neglect.
Monitoring (25%)
- Utilizes the Child Plus database to evaluate reports on home visits and resource and referral completion.
- Follows up with staff or supervisors to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Monitors home visit quality through observations and debriefing observations with Family Educators.
- Ensures timely completion of Family Educator home visits, parent education and training, parent meetings, resource and referrals, and site newsletters.
- Supports Family Services staff with implementation of parent meetings and site newsletters.
- Works with Family Services and Community Engagement Manager to produce cycle packets that include monthly job duties and expectations.
- Assists the Family Educators in completing duties and provides guidance to the site supervisors on monthly expectations of their staff.
Training and Staff Development (25%)
- Provides training at new staff orientation, pre-service, parent meetings, and monthly staff training days as necessary.
- Plans Family Services meetings based on program identified needs and requested topics.
- Plans and implements parenting education.
- Trains and supports Family Educators in providing volunteer orientation for program parents.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the Family Educators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Mostly indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
- Working evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Driving in all weather conditions.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
