We are looking for a Family Service Worker to join our team at Coastal Community Action! CCA is a private nonprofit corporation providing a variety of services to a target population of low-income children and families in ten counties in eastern NC, with a mission of empowering them to become self-sufficient.
The Family Service Worker will provide comprehensive services to engage families in their own development to strengthen their family systems, protect the health and well-being of their children, and improve their economic status and conditions through community education, services, referrals and goal-setting.
What You'll Do:
- Recruit, select and enroll children and families and maintain enrollment levels as prescribed by the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Be responsible for the implementation of Family Partnership Agreement process, Community Engagement, and ERSEA activities.
- Assist families in linking the child/ family into an ongoing health system. Ensures parents are involved as full partners in prevention and early intervention.
- Work with families to ensure timely entrance of children to the Head Start program, ensures all 45/90 day screenings are completed on time.
- Enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the family file and in the electronic database.
- Mobilize activities with other agencies in the four-county service area, such as the Department of Social Services (DSS), Employment Security Commission (ESC), Vocational Rehabilitation, community colleges, interagency programs, faith-based organizations and other human service agencies.
- Manage an ongoing case analysis of families, determine their needs, and work with all family members to meet specific needs.
- Provide case-by-case assistance to ensure participants meet their family partnership agreement goals
- Schedule and conduct Home Visits for each family at least once per quarter or as necessary according to program procedures.
- Participate in community events and activities, participate with other community organizations to enhance partnerships with Head Start.
- Work closely with counselors, case workers, managers and other professionals to assist families with managing their resources.
- Plan, coordinate and implement workshops and seminars for target population in a variety of cultures.
- Assist with developing and completing community needs assessments and analyzing data.
- Serve as a team leader for staffing assessments, screening child and family needs for HS and EHS enrollees.
What You'll Have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services/related field or an Associates Degree in Social Work, Human Services/related field with a credential or certification in social work, human services, Family Services, counseling or related field.
- Have two or more years’ of experience in case management and working with low-income families.
- Knowledge of government assistance programs and non-profits, faith-based organizations and other services.
- Excellent skills in judgment and mediation for the family, with the ability to determine barriers that block the achievement of the family becoming self-sufficient.
