- Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning of patients in the medical unit and housing units to evaluate current/past medical issues
- Responds to medical emergencies throughout the facility
- Collaborates with the Site Medical Director and Mental Health team as needed regarding patient status and treatment
- Manages medication for patients utilizing MedTrust formulary. When non-formulary medications are required, the practitioner will follow established protocols for obtaining such medications
- Follows all Fayette County Policies and Procedures with regard to security and patient contacts
- Delivers care in accordance with established MedTrust Policies and Procedures
- Communicates concerns regarding patient conditions and treatment to appropriate medical and security personnel
- Communicates the need for special housing to appropriate medical and security personnel
- Makes appropriate external referral as needed and communicates need for outside referrals to Health Services Administrator
- Thoroughly documents all patient encounters in electronic or paper medical record in accordance with MedTrust Policies and Procedures
- On call 24/7 for nursing staff questions and concerns
- Active, unrestricted FNP license in the state of Tennessee with prescribing authority
- Minimum 2 year’s experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner
- Valid DEA license
- Correctional Experience preferred
