Offit Kurman, a growing full-service law firm, is currently seeking a Family Law Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Bethesda, MD office. Candidates must possess three or more years of successful administrative support working as a legal administrative assistant or Legal Secretary in a Family Law practice.
Job Responsibilities:
Primary administrative responsibilities: Scheduling client meetings, managing calendars for hearing dates and court deadlines, opening new client files, letters of correspondence, regular client and court telephone & email communication, filing in Maryland jurisdictions, credit card coding and other internal processes.
Practice group responsibilities include:
- Revising pleadings, discovery, motions, subpoenas, deposition notices and other legal documents.
- Understanding of state and federal filing/e-filing policies and procedures.
- Performing a variety of document productions tasks, reviewing productions electronically, bates-stamping, redactions, creating trial binders and indexing.
- Performing a variety of projects independently and as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Exercise knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices.
- Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2017 (Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams).
- Ability to complete tasks/projects efficiently and with strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of MD Family Law litigation procedures and general commercial litigation.
- Understanding of state and federal e-filing policies and procedures.
