A Family Law Attorney II is mid-level attorney with 4 -6 years' experience practicing Family law. The successful Attorney II is self-directed and thrives with lots of support and autonomy. The Attorney II generally receive a substantial portion (approximately 75%) of their work through A Richland, Washington (WA) Law Firm lead generation and marketing and/or other attorneys in the office. An Attorney II is expected to generate a portion (25%) of their own billable work and attend four events per quarter. Attorneys have access to coaching and support services for business development and networking. The Firm prioritizes a work-life integration, a collaborative culture, and a competitive compensation & incentive structure that is unique to the industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Mediation experience
  • Trial experience
  • Researching and analyzing the law on complex legal issues
  • Writing memorandums, briefs, letters, and other documents
  • Professional attitude with a strong sense of discretion to keep sensitive information secure and private
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills when working with clients, members of the court and other employees
  • Strong organizational abilities and time management skills to handle many cases at once
  • Marketing your and the firm's services to prospective clients
  • Performing discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation
  • Performing due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions
  • Managing a schedule to allow for consults and closure of consults to sufficient reach production/collection objectives. Depending on practice area this may include outside core hour and weekend consults.
  • Closing consults within A Richland, Washington (WA) Law Firm range of 30-50% depending on practice area.
  • Timely approval of invoices is critical to the health of the business on a month-to-month basis monthly cycle. Failure to do so on a recurring basis may result in disciplinary and timely financial.
  • Ensure support staff are fully utilized and productive.
  • Accurately and completely update CC with fees, engagement, trust, client information, invoices etc. as required.
  • If over-subscribed share work tasks with other attorney and support staff to ensure we are meeting our objective to serve our communities.
  • Actively engage in brand (personal and firm) expansion through blogs social media posts, board, and organization participation, etc.
  • Actively seek positive comments from successful client engagements and positive star reviews.
  • Communicating and advising clients
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The Attorney is expected to bill an average of 1500 hours annually, with collections expected on 1400 hours of invoices worked while working a full-time employment schedule. This roughly translates to billing 30 hours per week at 50 weeks annually.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements*:
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
  • Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the bar in the state in which you intend to practice.
  • 4-6 years of experience as an attorney.
