TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.

April 5 to May 10, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Fair Administrative Director and Fair Production Assistant, serve as an off/on-site Fair Production Runner for various Fair Production Departments, including Fair, Food, Crafts, Fair Operations, and Security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must possess a current driver’s license and maintain an excellent safety record, ensuring it is carried at all times while on duty.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs is required.
  • Runs will be conducted using a vehicle provided by the Festival, involving delivery and pick-up of items across the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area. This includes moving items between the vehicle and locations around the Festival site.
  • Will also assist all Fair departments in their transportation needs to and from the Fair Grounds.
  • Operating the Festival-assigned vehicle in a safe and responsible manner is imperative, following all rules, regulations, and laws. This includes adherence to the guidelines outlined in the “Driver’s Agreement” issued by the Transportation Department and the Rental Vehicle Rider.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages or any mind-altering substances, legal or illegal, is strictly prohibited while on duty, and arriving to work under the influence of such substances is prohibited.
  • Daily review of all “Runner Request Forms” submitted by Fair Production Departments in conjunction with the Fair Production Assistant is required.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling various pick-ups and deliveries, completing runs promptly.
  • Runs should only be executed upon dispatch by the Fair Production Assistant.
  • Distribution of all pick-ups to various departments, ensuring that all receipts and associated documentation are provided to the requester.
  • Maintaining all relevant paperwork, cash, and receipts associated with daily duties.
  • Credit cards issued must be returned to the Fair Administrative Director at the end of the Festival.
  • May request quarters from the Fair Administrative Director for parking and tolls. All traffic tickets are the sole responsibility of the individual as outlined in the Moving/Parking Ticket Violation Rider.
  • Will be provided with a Festival-issued radio, which, along with a mobile phone, must remain on during duty to ensure constant communication with the Fair Production Assistant and other Festival on-site personnel.
  • Any lost or stolen items, including credit cards and radio, must be reported to the Fair Administrative Director immediately. Damage or mechanical problems with the Festival vehicle must be reported immediately to the Fair Production Assistant and the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Expected to carry out necessary duties related to the overall operation of all Festival departments on-site, not limited to the above responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Utilize the Absentee Request Form for accurate reporting of absenteeism.
  • Maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
  • Submit any intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival to the Festival Finance Office as required.
  • Attend and complete all required training sessions.
  • Submit Feedback Forms and Final Reports promptly.
  • Perform any additional work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and an excellent safety record.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required (up to 75lbs).
  • Should have a general knowledge of the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area.
  • Ability to work effectively under adverse and stressful conditions.
