Job description

The UT Southwestern (UTSW) Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care, in conjunction with the Department of Psychiatry, is seeking a board certified General or Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our faculty. The researcher will have the opportunity to build upon our department's outstanding teaching and research programs as we continue to strength and grow, the academic division of Mood Disorders research psychiatry program within the department of psychiatry. We seek a physician who will help our Center achieve our goal of working with our community partners to develop clinical, educational and research initiatives intended to help children and adults in north Texas stay mentally healthy. The research faculty will assist department leadership in implementing and leading a research strategy for Mood Disorders research that supports the recruitment of diverse high-caliber faculty who will enhance our scientific efforts.

Increasing the Department's leadership in clinical and translational research funding is a high priority for this position. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of excellence in Mood Disorders research; specifically, academic, and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the criteria for appointment at the academic rank of associate or full Professor at UTSW. However, appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

The successful candidate's appointment within the Department of Psychiatry also requires regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents. In addition, the physician will provide leadership for clinician-educator collaborators that allow for the joint pursuit of innovative research initiatives.

Qualifications include an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain prior to appointment; Board certified in general psychiatry; eligible for credentialing and privileging by our collaborating partners in our community; eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Psychiatry; demonstrated leadership, clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills; ability to influence/motivate others at all professional and administrative levels; must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence; must possess tenacity, self-motivation and initiative necessary to drive the development and maintenance of established and new programs; a track record of being able to lead, direct, and influence a team regardless of reporting lines, as well as be a team player.
