The teacher is responsible to the Elementary Principal and works closely with administrative staff, other teachers and parents. A Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education is required (Master's Degree preferred) for this position. The teacher must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to communicate and relate well to both children and adults. This person should project a professional appearance at all times. This person should have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability in the program.

- Regularly attend and actively participate in a local Christian church
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Working knowledge of school: mission, philosophy, day-to-day operations
- Ability to work well with others, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community
- Demonstrate flexibility during busiest times of the year and when unexpected tasks arise
Responsibilities to students include:

- Be responsible for the planning, supervision, and implementation of the program for his/her class in accordance with the policies of the school

- Help each child develop a positive sense of self-worth, of independence, and a sense of responsibility and self-direction
- Maintain confidentiality of individual students
Responsibilities to the School include:
- Write weekly lesson plans and have them readily available for review by the Principal
- Deliver all instruction from a biblical worldview aligned with CAK's mission and values
- Submit all records, reports, evaluations, inventories, etc. promptly
- Ensure that the classroom is neat, well organized and bulletin boards are kept current
- Be present in the school building at least one-half hour before school begins, preparing for the day; to be present in the classroom when students begin arriving
- Attend all school and division meetings and recommended training programs
- Attend evening school events as requested
- Participate in conferences, courses, teaching demonstrations, and extra duties when requested
- Serve on various committees as requested
- Prepare for and obtain a substitute when absent from school
- Make arrangements and request transportation for field trips
- Assist with admission testing and observations, when requested
- Value and support members of the school community
- Adhere to all school policies as contained in the CAK Employee Handbook
Responsibilities to parents and the community include:
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences, as well as meet with parents whenever necessary during the school year
- Return phone calls and emails promptly
- Maintain confidentiality
- Encourage good parent-teacher relations
- Keep parents informed by sending home regular newsletters, progress reports, etc.
- Be a role model in the community
Responsibilities for professional growth and development include:
- Attend and participate in professional conferences, lectures, or other educational events
- Attain membership in appropriate educational organizations
- Keep current on educational issues through research and study
- Participate in professional faculty and program evaluations
Other duties as assigned by Elementary Administration or Head of School.
