The Facilities Staff Engineer is accountable for good quality, safety, and compliance of Facilities systems, operations, and maintenance.
This role is responsible for Facilities compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) through the Integrated Facilities Management model, that includes the Hard and Soft Services (e.g., Utilities, janitorial, pest control and landscaping, Cafeteria and Security services). In addition, responsible for leading eCMMS, Facilities Quality Systems, Investigations, CAPAs, trainings, SOPs, and internal/external audit compliance.
A strong candidate for this role will have experience in quality systems and facilities management, with excellent leadership skills to lead people and implement Facilities strategies and initiatives at the site.
Key relationships include engagement with Facilities Maintenance, business units (e.g., R&D, Manufacturing, Deliver, Finance, IT, HR, Quality, EHS, etc.), outsourced partners, and external authorities, serving as a domain expert for quality systems, to address quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive compliance and quality within Facilities Management.
- Provide technical support to the changes in the impacted areas according to GMP and EHS&S regulatory requirements.
- Acts as Facilities compliance leader for area improvement, deviation and investigation evaluations, regulatory and compliance audits, and capital justification. Also, supports Facilities service providers.
- Quality SME in facilities, including but not limited to pest control, GMP utilities, drawing management, housekeeping management, etc.
- Leads the eCMMS Maximo team and provides guidance for compliance of maintenance planning, scheduling, and documentation.
- Supervises service provider’s daily performance and site operational opportunities. Identify recurrent opportunities in site assets / systems impacting Quality. Assign root cause and build plans to mitigate / eliminate the opportunity.
- Responsible for alignment with Quality systems, including implementation of CAPAs, investigations, and trainings.
- Maintain operating procedures updated and supervises service providers for strict compliance.
- Participates in IFM Governance Meetings and Processes including monthly SMT, inspections and similar.
- Leads the management and monitoring of the Facilities compliance metrics / key performance indicators. Collects data and prepares periodic reports for management on operational data (e.g., Pest trends, EHS&S assessments, and facility condition assessment). Manage FM reports and compliance.
- Supports in the installation, qualification, and validation of new equipment.
- Coordinates and performs inspections inside and outside the facility to identify situations that may impact the operation of the plant.
- Lead partnerships with Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing to facilitate multi-functional problem-solving.
- Collects and maintain site specific data and information to support regional and global metrics, programs, and performance analysis.
Qualifications
Education:
- University/Bachelor's or equivalent degree is required; Master’s Degree is preferred. Degree in Engineering, Science, or related field is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
- Experience in a GMP and/or ISO regulated industry.
- Basic management & supervision of both in-house and contracted personnel.
- Must be a self-starter, able to think creatively, challenge the norm and inspire change.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make effective decisions.
- Digital literacy, including solid understanding of MS Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point) and other specific software as required.
Preferred:
- Process Improvement experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge in technical and business fields.
- Knowledge in Investigations, CAPA, and RCA.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment within Pharma, Medical Device, Consumer and/or Biotech industries.
Other:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, root-cause, and data analysis/mining skills with a strong attention to detail are advantageous.
- Experience of working within a team, have excellent communication skills and be able to work under their own initiative/self-directed.
- Experience in change management and capable of building strong partnerships internally/externally.
- Candidates must be diligent, highly organized, and able to balance multiple tasks
