The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Facilities Services Technicianin the Public Works Department.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

As a Facilities Services Technician , you will:

  • Conduct and/or oversee the maintenance and operational activities involving facility and site systems, i.e., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security.
  • Conduct and/or oversee general building maintenance, such as repair of defects or malfunctions with office doors, ceiling and floor, painting/wall repairs.
  • Perform monthly comprehensive facility and site inspections.
  • Requisition supplies, equipment, and/or parts through the City's purchasing systems, including following up with purchase orders.
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with outside vendors, contractors, agencies and internal customers
  • Establish and maintain a follow-up program for all activities and tasks.
  • Perform careful research in job field and relative activities, such as energy saving issues, governmental regulations, new technologies, and the like.
  • Develop and increase technical skills related to position, as well as expanding knowledge in areas of personnel and fiscal management.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed and timely records in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Actively follows local, state, and federal guidelines and standards regarding building codes, permitting and safety while ensures others in the department do as well.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
  • Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director and/or their designee(s).

The ideal candidate must be extremely organized and able to manage the logistics of multiple duties with professionalism and strong communication skills. In addition, they will have a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment-both critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability. Ideal candidates will also look for innovative, trailblazing solutions to challenges We are looking for someone who can establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and work effectively with all levels of employees and management.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED Certificate required.
  • More than one year of progressively responsible experience with direct repair and maintenance of HVAC, MEP, Roofing, and Security Access Systems.

Training (License and/or Certification):

  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Electrician Maintenance License preferred.
