The Facilities Planner / Graphic Designer will collaborate with architects, project consultants, and educational planners to plan, design, coordinate and present ideas for a variety of projects within the Facilities Planning Division. These projects focus on California Community Colleges, and project sites within them. The Facilities Planner / Graphic Designer is responsible for research, analysis, and diagraming, visual communication tools, drafting, and artists renderings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with Directors and Associates within CWP, including the Director of Campus Planning, and the Director of Facilities in developing creative design concepts on a wide range of master planning, campus visioning, and project assessments for California Community Colleges.
- Conducts site analysis and project research
- Assists with site planning and programming, footprint layouts, and calculations
- Prepares high-quality 2D planning and urban design diagrams and illustrations
- Understands basic architectural design and prepares 3D project base, massing models
- Able to do written reports and deliverable summaries
- Collaborates in writing and compiling a variety of document types, including planning reports, technical memoranda, design narratives, project approach and design guidelines
- Lead graphic composition of final reports and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or architecture preferred
- Strong graphic, written, and verbal communicator.
- Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, rendering software, and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of Revit
- Ability to apply technology and software applications creatively to support planning solutions
- Experience in campus planning preferred.
- Technical experience with physical design and massing modeling
