Job description

Under the general direction of the Budget and Administration Manager, a Staff Service Manager I, the Facilities Operations Assistant, a Staff Services Analyst, performs a variety of analytical and administrative duties required for the efficient operation of the Inland Empire Transportation Management Center (IETMC). The incumbent is responsible for procuring goods and services, preparing procurement documents, communicating with facility management and employees, vendors, and members of other state agencies. The incumbent must exercise a high degree of initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines to ensure uninterrupted services for employees and customers at the IETMC. The incumbent must demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to providing accurate, timely, and high-level customer service to all internal and external customers and as needed, maintaining complete confidentiality in the execution of duties. In this position the incumbent is required to be fingerprinted and have their background checked by the California Department of Justice and employment in the Traffic Management Center is conditional on concurrence by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Working Conditions
Position located in Fontana, San Bernardino County
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
While at the base of operations, will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. While most of the work is indoors, inspections and coordination with contract work on exterior of building may require significant periods of time spent outdoors.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
