GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Janitor Associate (JA), performs a variety of janitorial and facilities cleaning, sanitation and waste management duties as directed by the Facilities Manager. The JA primary responsibility is to assure the facility is in compliance to strict FDA requirements for cleanliness and appearance and will maintain a clean and safe environment for its employees. The JA will work with various departments in the facility to assist and support their needs for janitorial requests. The Janitor Associate reports directly to the Facilities Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•Responsible for cleaning both the ladies and men's restrooms to be neat and orderly. Records the time and date the cleaning was done on the restroom cleaning log.
•Assures all needed cleaning supplies are available to include restroom supplies.
•Empties trashcans throughout the facility and makes sure all the trash lids are in place atop the trash cans.
•Cleans the general and non-production floors by utilizing the floor scrubber, buffer and other cleaning machines necessary to maintain an adequate level of sanitization and housekeeping. (May assist in cleaning production areas as necessary).
•Responsible to maintain a clean and healthy lunchroom before and after lunch and breaks. Will wipe down the tables, micro-waves, chairs/benches clean and wipe the sinks, empty the trash cans and clean the lunchroom floor.
•Assists Facility Maintenance staff when needed such as maintaining the exterior grounds, trash and debris removal.
•Basic drain cleaning. (removal of drain (P trap) in lunchroom sinks.
•Toilet seat, paper towel and soap dispenser replacement. Etc.
•Will assist in moving office furniture such as desks, chairs, cabinets and a host of other office type furniture to other locations as directed by the Facility Manager.
•Must understand how to read, write and speak English to be able to communicate with other department managers and supervisors for their janitorial needs.
•Must be able to follow manufacturing instructions when mixing cleaning and other chemicals necessary to perform, clean and repair functions in the facility.
•Ability to read and understand SDS, use appropriate PPE as required, and maintain cleaning tools.
•Performs Deep Cleaning where directed following all applicable SOPs..
•Will maintain inventories on facility and janitorial supplies and will advise the Facility Manager (or Designee) when critical supplies are in need of re-ordering.
•Dry mop through the production department offices as requested.
•Will clean office areas to include floors, windows, tables, trash cans and other necessary cleaning to maintain a clean and healthy office environment.
•Must be able to stand for 10 hours and able to lift 50lbs.
•Must be able to work with minimal supervision in an efficient manner and not distract other employees.
•Maintain a good attendance record and be available at work each and every day.
•The Janitor Associate reports directly to the Janitor Supervisor or Facility Manager if no supervisor is present.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Must have 2 to 5 years experience working in a manufacturing facility or similar operation in a janitor / custodian capacity.
•Possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment necessary to meet FDA standards for cleanliness and a healthy work environment.
•Must know how to operate multi cleaning machines such as scrubbers, buffers, polishers and other cleaning equipment necessary to maintain a clean and healthy work environment.
•Must have experience in performing minor facility repairs as necessary to maintain a clean and healthy work environment.
•Must know how to accurately inventory critical janitorial and facility supplies necessary to maintain a clean and healthy work environment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•High School Diploma/Certificate; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
