Job Description
The Facilities Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring and planning for the efficient and smooth operation of the physical infrastructure within the MSD of New Durham Township.
Qualifications:
A. Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
B. Experience/Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills
- A background in facilities management, maintenance, or similar field
- Strong vision for future planning
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proactive approach to the upkeep and maintenance of facilities
- Ability to analyze existing facilities for needed improvements or potential expansion
- Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
- Commitment to creating a safe and conducive environment for students and staff
C. Other:
- Possess such other qualifications as deemed desirable by the Board of School Trustees.
- Attend professional development as suggested by the Superintendent.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Work Days: 260; 8 hours per day.
Major Responsibilities:
A. Facility Maintenance and Operations:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all school buildings and grounds.
- Coordinate routine inspections and address any issues related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems promptly.
- Oversee construction projects, renovations, and ensure compliance with safety and building codes.
B. Space Utilization and Planning:
- Work closely with school administrators to assess space needs and plan for optimal utilization of facilities.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating events and activities that require the use of school facilities.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to develop and implement a strategic plan focused on the improvement, advancement, and expansion of our building and grounds.
C. Budget Management:
- Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the facilities budget.
- Track expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide regular updates to the Director of Facilities.
D. Vendor and Contractor Management:
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Ensure that all contracted work is performed to the highest standards and within established timelines.
E. Safety and Compliance:
- Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Stay informed about relevant codes, regulations, and best practices, ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
F. Environmental Sustainability:
- Oversee and manage the school’s solar array to maximize productivity and maintain efficient systems.
- Develop and implement initiatives to promote environmental sustainability within school facilities.
- Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient technologies and practices.
G. Emergency Response Planning:
- Contribute to the development and updating of emergency response plans.
- Collaborate with the safety team in the coordination of drills and training sessions to ensure staff is well-prepared for emergencies.
