Facade Inspector

The Inspector will represent DeSimone at project coordination meetings and perform visits to project sites, ensuring compliance with Contract Documents, approved shop drawings, and submittals. This position also involves writing reports of each visit, informing the project team of all relevant events.
This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
Essential functions/ Key Responsibilities:

• Comprehend building enclosure systems and construction phases, including wall, waterproofing and roofing systems
• Perform on-site inspections
• Produce daily inspection reports of project related activity and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timeliness of project deliverables and completion
• Check for compliance with local laws, ordinances, and building codes
• Communicate directly with clients and construction management teams
• Update Project Manager on progression of work, status, scheduling, and timeline for completion
• Communicate with clients and attend client meetings
• Interface directly with contractors as appropriate and/ or needed
• Train teammates for inspections
• Review inspection reports and provide comments internally for updates before issuance

Work environment:
Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include walking, climbing ladders and supported scaffolds, riding suspended scaffolds, sitting, and typing.
Position type and expected hours of work: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday with the local standard business hours. Overtime is expected when needed to meet job demands.
Travel: To client and construction sites as needed.
Required education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3 years' experience of performing TR-1 and TR-8 building enclosure inspections in NYC
• A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the Construction Administration (CA) phase including Submittal (Product Data, Shop Drawings, and Calculations) Review, Factory Observation Visits, Site Inspection Visits, NYC Special Inspections and Façade Inspection & Safety Program (FISP) inspections.
• Minimum 1 year experience reviewing inspection reports
• 30-hour OSHA certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of email correspondence and concise but detailed shop and site inspection reports.
• Ability to compose sketches/ drawings in BlueBeam and AutoCAD, while communicating effectively through graphic means.
• Ability to participate in in-person and virtual meetings with Owner, Construction Manager, Subcontractors, Architect, and Subconsultants.
• Ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation.
• Must be able to climb ladders, ride suspended scaffolds, and work at great heights.
• Ability to effectively read, understand, and utilize architectural drawings.

Preferred Experience:

• NYC SST
• ICC certifications
• QEWI - Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector
• SPRAT rope access certification
• Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE)
• Experience in producing and compiling filing drawings.
• Management of project team during CA phase a plus.
