Summary
The Maintenance Services Fabrication Shops are seeking a Work Coordinator to interface with customers on new requirements and perform essential workflow and scheduling functions. A background in graphic design is highly desirable to support client ideation and initial work layout for sign requirements. This is a client-facing role. The ideal candidate must be comfortable engaging with customers, tradesperson and managers to support the timely delivery of products and Make Blue Go.

Responsibilities*
Provide a client-facing point of receipt for new work requirements.
Review new work requests for completeness and gather additional information, as required.
Develop initial ideas/designs by hand sketch and graphic design software.
As necessary, support customer material selection.
Coordinate simple budget estimates for minor, single-craft work.
Communicate work schedules to impacted stakeholders, facility managers and asset supervisors.
Breakdown demands for tradespersons, equipment and materials into executable work schedules.
Coordinate weekly and daily assignments for Shop Tradespersons.
Facilitate recurring weekly scheduling meetings.
Integrate equipment scheduling to eliminate production bottlenecks.
Integrate material lead times into work schedules to limit schedule break.
Develop long-range schedules and make resourcing recommendations to the Shop Supervisor.
Manage shop consumable inventory and support procurement processes.
Acts as a single point of contact for receipt of materials.
Coordinate consumable inventories and material ordering with assigned Shop Leads.
Maintain cost per unit information.
Steward University resources by supporting make or buy decisions.
Support work order completion.
Support scheduling expeditors and installations of completed work.
Review completed work orders for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure design fees and consumables are appropriately billed prior to work order close-out.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Improve shop layout and physical workflows.
Institute best practices for material management.
Support computerized maintenance management workflow improvements.
Modernize initial work triage to include client-facing support.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications*
Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a graphic design discipline or role.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to communicate with a diverse group of people.
Accurate and acute written and oral communication skills.
Ability to use and/or learn a variety of computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), reporting, procurement and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Desired Qualifications*
Prior experience in work receipt and scheduling. Preferably in an industrial fabrication, manufacturing or construction environment.
Experience following design standards and specifications to lay out signage.
Knowledge or experience with designing to American's with Disability Act standards.
Ability to develop time and material cost estimates.
Experience managing consumable material inventories and shop tools and equipment.
Basic knowledge of facilities systems and management processes.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm
Due to the nature of this position, working after hours might be needed.
