LIT Workshop is a custom fabrication shop that has been in business over 20 years. We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Mechanical Designer, who specializes in high end production of wood work, and enjoys sharing that knowledge with other. This position is primarily responsible for producing solid models (3D) and 2D mechanical drawings utilizing SolidWorks Engineering software. This role is also responsible for proving out conceptual methods or practices as they relate to engineering or manufacturing functions.
Supports the Design and Manufacturing activities of the company through the comprehensive development of solid models and mechanical drawings that accurately reflect the design rendering and allow for manufacturing activities to accurately and timely interpret and build, in the most cost effective manner, the required parts as reflected in the initial design rendering.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Modeling all parts and proving out GDT (General Dimensioning and Tolerances)
- Responsible for all 2 dimensional shop drawings and fabrication setup and build sheets
- Accurate and concise communication of the design intent and manufacturability
- Consistent use of DFM (Design For Manufacturing)
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, plant capabilities and infrastructure.
- Relies on significant experience to make appropriate decisions when required
- Engineers processes that he/she develops and documents for repeatability
- Establish and modify standards to which solid models are to be created, notated and published
- Establish and modify engineering standards in accordance with LIT Workshop policies
- Develop the product development cycle from decision through first article sign off
- Recognize, evaluate, communicate and implement innovative systems
- Current knowledge of manufacturing methods and outlines supplier requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge of structural members, mechanical systems, structural design and FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in SolidWorks
- Desired experience in residential/commercial construction, cabinetry and mill work.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of all building materials.

Salary info:
$27 - $34 / hr
