Essential Job Functions
- Be knowledgeable of all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Responsible for nesting/programming functions for business unit's production demands.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- reduction of wasteful processes; scrap savings.
- Read print drawings to determine dimensions, design, and materials needed.
- Experience with interpreting part drawings and generating accurate programs for Fabrication equipment including fiber lasers and turret punch machines.Program and operate machines in assigned work area.
- Must be able to evaluate equipment capacity constraints and balanced workloads to achieve production goals.
- Operate hand tools required for performing job duties.
- Served as a daily technical resource for troubleshooting fabrication department's production and quality issues at cut, bend, weld, paint and insulation stations.
- Effectively use measuring devices to insure accuracy of cuts.
- Assist engineering with developing, building and testing prototypes and products.
- Experience with gathering, extracting, and analyzing data for a diverse range of metrics and 9 step problem solving projects.
- Must be able to evaluate equipment capacity constraints and balanced workloads to achieve production goals.
- Develop and enhance work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P) to reduce errors while increasing performance.
- Assist in rapid improvement events (R.I.E)
- Ability to Map process workflows to enhance and streamline operating procedures.
- Move material using forklift, crane, and/or wheeled carts/tables.
- Form pieces of metal to prescribed dimensions.
- Properly identify all fabricated material and segregate material by job.
- Perform general housekeeping of work area.
- Work as a team to accomplish goals.
- Communicate with Team Leader and Production Leader to determine needs and provide materials as needed.
- Suggest process improvement ideas.
- Assist co-workers within area and in other areas as needed/directed.
Education, Experience & Skills
- High School Diploma of General Equivalent Degree (GED) required
- One (1) year of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous machine operation experience preferred.
- Previous metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Willingness to learn all tasks required to perform the job.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to use equipment and maintain general understanding of business process.
- Ability to perform work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of and willingness to comply with all general work rules, policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and procedures.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
- Basic math skills with knowledge of decimal system.
- Commitment to performing quality work.
- Ability to learn to operate all equipment associated with the job.
- Able to read blue prints.
- Able to read a tape measure.
- Self-Motivated and willing to learn.
