Experienced Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a friendly and Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our two-doctor general practice team! We are a privately-owned, small animal practice that sees dogs and cats, as well as some pocket pets and exotics.

You would be joining a fun, friendly team of veterinary professionals. All staff are cross-trained in all relevant departments to better support each other and work seamlessly as a team.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining records using our practice management software.
• Assisting in exam rooms – getting vitals and patient history, as well as assisting the doctor for exam and completing the medical record.
• Technician appointments.
• Animal restraint using safe, stress-minimizing handling.
• Client education and communication.
• Prepping and assisting with surgical and anesthetic procedures, utilizing our multi-parameter monitoring equipment.
• Diagnostics and sample collection such as radiographs, phlebotomy, running in-house lab machines.
• Caring for and monitoring hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, maintaining IV fluids, injections, collecting vitals, updating pet’s family.
• Some reception work, as our team is cross-trained to support each other. This includes answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, and processing payments.
• Maintaining a clean and organized hospital.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in the veterinary field preferred
• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a hospital setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional manner.
• Empathy and understanding towards clients and their pets.
• Proficiency in computer skills and practice management software
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail
• Flexibility to work Saturdays (rotating schedule, some Saturdays off) and some (minimal) overtime.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
