We currently have an immediate opening for an Experienced Tax professional to join our office located in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago for the upcoming 2025 tax preparation season. This position currently offers 8-24 hours of work per week during the offseason in 2024 (depending on need). Job Description
In this role you will primarily be responsible for preparing complete and accurate tax returns while delivering outstanding client service. Secondary responsibilities will revolve around general accounting and customer service support. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Conducting thorough interviews with potential clients, both in person and via the phone
Completing all related tax forms in accordance with policies, and in compliance with legislation and regulations
Researching tax related questions and issues while responding to clients appropriately and within a timely manner
Auditing all tax return forms for accuracy and completeness prior to submitting to reviewer for final review
Maintaining a positive image
Meeting all customer service standards and productivity levels as set by the Office Supervisor
Supporting professional staff with assigned projects and tasks
General administrative duties and assistance as needed
Must Have Qualifications
Candidates that will be considered for the role will have recent experience (meaning past 5 years) with the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field with EA, CPA or JD designations highly preferred
Minimum of 5 years preparation experience with complex
o Individual 1040s (Schedules A,B,C,D & E) and
o Corporate returns (1120, 1120S and 1065)
General bookkeeping or accounting knowledge
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Knowledge and experience with a Windows based computer system
Possess a valid and active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN).
Pleasant personality with a demonstrated ability of providing excellent customer service
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in person and via phone
The ability to work independently and self organize/prioritize ones work
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Beneficial Qualifications
EA, CPA or JD designations highly preferred
Knowledge of Drake tax preparation software
Experience working with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online)
Experience preparing payroll tax returns and sales tax returns
Experience with Federal/State tax resolution services
