Job Title:Exhortation Manager

Department: Department of Ministries -DOM

Reports to: Director of Family Connections and Membership

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Eastern Star Church (ESC) ministry is evangelism and discipleship. YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION

Responsible for managing ESC exhortation programs that provide counseling, pastoral care, case management and visitation services to ESC members. Ensure exhortation programs and activities are operating efficiently to effectively meet the needs of the members we serve. The Exhortation Manager shall compile and keep data reflective of metrics and outcomes.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise ministry leaders, congregation volunteers and skilled-professional volunteers (e.g., volunteer licensed counselors).
  • Develop, maintain and/or implement exhortation activities to meet the needs of ESC members.
  • Provide biblical counseling to members of Eastern Star Church directly and thru referrals including but not limited to premarital/marriage counseling, financial, addictions and abuse as well as grief and loss counseling.
  • Develops and maintains relevant and current community counseling referral resource database.
  • Initiate and ensure integration of case management services within Exhortation Ministry thru utilization of Exhortation Coordination skill set (e.g., death in a family along with usual funeral services ensure case management assessment is conducted to determine any ancillary needs).
  • Responsible for overseeing and training ESC Exhortation Ministry, Prayer Line Ministry, Missionaries Ministry and Hospitality/Funerals Ministry.
  • Responsible for managing request for emergency assistance for members of the church.
  • Coordinate funeral process and activities.
  • Create and sustain an Exhortation Ministry communications plan in collaboration with Communications Department and Director of Community Development to increase and maintain awareness of Exhortation Ministries' continuum of services that are available for ESC members.
  • Responsible for the training and development of Exhortation volunteers and staff.
  • Facilitate response to Exhortation Ministry requests within 24 hours of receipt in coordination with ESC Receptionist.
  • Provide Director of Community Development with monthly reports per request.
  • Develop and evaluate metrics for the impact and outcomes of exhortation programs/activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree from a college or university and a minimum of 5 years related experience. Master's degree preferred. Direct related experience in managing exhortation/counseling programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with administration, supervisor, staff, volunteers, congregation and the community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups. Ability to effectively read, interpret and present information to top management, the congregation, volunteers and the community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and data furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop outcomes.
  • A valid Indiana driver's license is required
