This is a full time position replacing the current exercise physiologist in the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) within the Section of Health Promotion & Sports Medicine. This clinic position will primarily participate in patient care duties including: rooming and performing vital sign measurements, conducting patient EKG preparation, performing pulmonary function testing (PFT) and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), performing body composition analysis and performing medical testing such as urinalysis and blood draws. The position will additionally work with our research testing personnel and projects in HPL assisting with research protocols including: communication with a variety of internal and external entities involved with research protocols (investigators, sponsors, IRB, RGC, CTO, SPA, consultants, participants, and others as needed); recruitment and scheduling of research participants; processing data and preparing written reports; working closely with physicians to provide direct patient and participant care in the Human Performance Lab (HPL); maintaining equipment and supplies for all research projects assisting the study coordinator and Principal Investigator as needed.
- Clinical duties: Conduct CPET, PFT, RMR, body comp, and other testing for patients and research participants in the HPL
- HPL research duties include testing and entering research data in a timely manner as needed, and prepare data summaries and written reports
- Performing medical assessments of vitals signs, phlebotomy and urine specimen collection and analysis
- Assist with data base management of patient outcomes and writing summary data for fire and police organizations.
- Collaborate with our providers organizing meetings and conference calls. Assist PAS with scheduling of HPL patients and research subjects
Bachelor’s dgree in exercise science or related health & wellness field
One year of related experience including good communication skils for teaching
Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person.
Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.
Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal.
Must be proficient with computers running Windows and PC applications e.g. MS Excel, Oracle, Access, Word and PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
Basic CPR
Research experience
American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist Certification (can get over first 6 months of employment in this position)
- ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist or equivalent
- Weekly work schedule to complete weekly job assignments for a full-time position. This is expected to require around 40 hours per week, but actual time may differ because of variations in HPL scheduling workload and deadlines. Will have potential exposure to human tissues/fluids.
- Ability to carry and lift up to 50 lbs, moving and carrying equipment and supplies. Must have reliable transportation.
