This schedule is 4 9-hour weekdays a week. No weekends or holidays.
Job Summary:
Works with patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary and metabolic diseases and disorders to enhance quality of life, manage health risk and promote lasting health behavior change. Develops and administers programs designed to enhance aerobic endurance, cardiovascular function, muscular strength and endurance, balance and range of motion. Educates patients about testing, exercise program components, control of chronic disease and health conditions and clinical risk reduction.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in exercise science or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist certification: Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with program coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) to develop patient exercise treatment plans and parameters based on clinical information and assessment. Oversees exercise sessions and acts as the exercise physiology resource to nursing staff and collaborates on patient care plans. Educates patient regarding exercise theories and guidelines
- Assists with patient enrollment and assesses any injury or problem. Follows up with patients to assess progress. Refers patients to physicians when necessary. Provides education on proper nutrition and exercise habits. Instructs patients on the proper ways to stretch and use equipment to avoid injury.
- Participates in educational activities and self-development: identifies projects within the area needing improvement and devises a plan for resolution. Assists in orientation of new staff and volunteers.
