PURPOSE OF JOB:
- A nonexempt position responsible for supervising cardiac stress testing in both the in-patient and out-patient setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assess patients for absolute contraindications to stress testing via pre-participation screen to include risk stratification and past medical history; Knowledgeable of criteria necessitating physician review prior to testing.
- Understands indications for terminating an exercise of pharmacological stress test; demonstrates the skills need for responding to cardiac emergencies during and after stress testing.
- Lead comprehensive exercise tolerance and pharmacological stress testing using a variety of test protocols. Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of the operation, skill in use and troubleshooting comprehensive stress testing equipment including, exercise testing system (treadmill, bicycle, and ECG monitor), defibrillator, pulse oximeter, sphygmomanometer, and oxygen.
- Document and communicate preliminary test results including ECG interpretation, hemodynamic evaluation, and symptomology and finalized report as completed by physician. Communicate with external referring physician base and patients as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Masters of Science – Cardiac Rehabilitation/Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology/Adult Health and Fitness preferred; Equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: Two-five years of experience in comprehensive graded exercise and pharmacological stress testing, preferred.
- ACLS within 1 year
- BCLS
- Certifications with American College of Sports Medicine, Exercise Specialist, preferred; willingness to complete within 1 year.
