Position Qualification

Position Summary
The Executive Vice Chair of Dermatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center
(UNMC) Department of Dermatology will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and clinical excellence to the Department of Dermatology at the Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have an outstanding track record in academic medicine, a strong commitment to patient care, and a passion for teaching and mentoring. The Executive Vice Chair of Dermatology will report directly to the Chair of Dermatology.
The Executive Vice Chair of Dermatology is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader to help shape the future of one of the most innovative and rapidly growing academic departments of Dermatology in the country. The successful candidate will join a world-class academic medical center and faculty committed to providing exceptional care, advancing research, and educating the next generation of healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Department of Dermatology, including clinical programs, research initiatives, and educational activities.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Department of Dermatology, including patient care, staffing, and resource allocation.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive culture that encourages our UNMC ITEACH values of innovation, teamwork, excellence, accountability, courage, and healing.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, patients, referring physicians, industry partners, and community leaders.
Work with the Chair to participate in fundraising activities to support research, education, and clinical programs.
Work closely with the Chair and the administrative leadership team in dermatology on strategic planning, operational excellence, financial sustainability and budgeting.
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Department of Dermatology and the broader Medical Center community.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior faculty and trainees.
Qualifications:

MD or DO degree with board certification in dermatology.
Holds the rank of Professor or is eligible for promotion to Professor
Eligible for a medical license in the state of Nebraska.
A minimum of five years of leadership experience in academic medicine.
Proven track record of success in clinical care, research, education and service/outreach.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Experience in junior faculty mentoring and development.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
A commitment to excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
