Description
Become an integral part of the Kentucky’s Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) Commissioner’s Office. DAIL is dedicated to administering programs and services for Kentucky elders and individuals with disabilities. Our vision is to ensure that all Kentuckians, regardless of age or ability, have access to the information and supports needed for independent living. The mission is centered on promoting the welfare, dignity, and independence of older adults, individuals with physical disabilities, and adults in need of a guardian.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Reviews departmental programs and management issues providing recommendations and reports to the Commissioner for resolutions and best practices.
- Reviews complaints, policy and regulations for compliance and reports results and recommendations for improvement.
- Prepares briefing materials for the Commissioner to present within the department, cabinet and with outside stakeholders.
- Assists the commissioner and management in the development, administration and oversight of department initiatives and effective operations within the scope of the laws.
- Provides technical assistance to all organizational units on matters dealing with the administration of all operational regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluates routine, special, and technical reports to monitor efforts to increase efficiency and effectiveness of departmental activities.
- Synthesizes data from all organizational units as well as from statutes and federal regulations to develop and recommend establishment or modification of policies and procedures.
- Attends professional meetings and in service training sessions to update staff on policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of administrative or management experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
