Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Executive Housekeeper to oversee the housekeeping operations at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, West Virginia. As the Executive Housekeeper, you will be responsible for managing a team of housekeeping staff, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of all guest rooms and public areas, and implementing and enforcing hotel policies and procedures. This is a full-time, salaried position in the hospitality/restaurant industry with a salary of Forty Thousand per year.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including scheduling, training, and supervising housekeeping staff
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas
  • Ensure all rooms are properly cleaned and stocked with amenities according to hotel standards
  • Inspect rooms and public areas for cleanliness and maintenance issues
  • Manage inventory and order necessary supplies for housekeeping department
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and tasks for housekeeping staff
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures for housekeeping, including safety and security measures
  • Collaborate with other department managers to ensure efficient operations and exceptional guest satisfaction
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns regarding housekeeping services
  • Prepare budget and monitor expenses for housekeeping department
  • Conduct performance evaluations for housekeeping staff and provide ongoing training and coaching

Uphold and abide by the policies in the Associate Handbook for your position. Follow these policies, rules and regulations for the safe and effective overall operation. Teach and enforce all existing and new policies and procedures. Must have commitment to company values.

Maintain a hands-on, positive and inspirational coaching approach to working with and supporting your supervisors and associates. Be a good role model and actively seek coaching opportunities to help maintain a positive work environment. Help maintain this environment through team building. Be proactive to assure your property has a “harassment free” work environment. Report harassing behavior immediately.

Maintain a positive approach to working with associates to include coaching and counseling. Offer praise for those times when someone is doing the right thing and immediately correct when improvement is necessary.

Maintain a 40-45 hour average annual workweek. Work schedule prescribed by the GM.

As the leader of the Housekeeping Department, your presence in your department, helping and supporting the team, is essential to our overall success. You, and your team, must accept the role as an ambassador of the property for our guests. You make a major impression upon our guests regarding their stay at our property. Lead by the right example and model the right behavior for your team.

Support your team with a “Hands On” approach during shifts. Perform room and laundry attendant functions, especially during peak times, to lead by example.

Professionally represent the hotel and property when interacting with guests from the community and industry organizations.

Directly supervise the duties of a team, of up to twenty staff members.

Management Responsibilities:

Schedule, assign rooms and monitor productivity of housekeeping staff.

Work with the GM in preparing accurate and aggressive long- and short-range financial objectives, consistent with the hotel’s objectives. This will be for Housekeeping, Laundry, and related departments.

Monitor performance of subordinate housekeeping staff. Provide organization, guidance and communication, as well as exercise good judgment in supporting hotel policies.

Process work orders through the proper channels. Process all guests’ needs and requests. Report emergency maintenance to the engineering department.

Take inventories, as requested or needed, of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and guest supplies. Ensure that carts, closets, and equipment are kept safe, clean, neat, and stocked according to department guidelines.

Coordinate inventory, ordering, obtaining competitive pricing, receiving and stocking of supplies.

Assist in maintaining favorable working relationships among employees. Promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency within the department. Keep secure all confidential paperwork and information.

Assist GM by keeping accurate list of repair and maintenance needs for Maintenance Department, outside vendor work or purchase.

Assist GM and Regional Manager in preparation of department capital budget.

Interview perspective department personnel when appropriate. Maintain the proper two interview technique, procedures and check references.

Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately and submitted before the start of the new pay period. Confirm there is a proper orientation process in place for the department.

Keep training materials current and accurate. Staff development may process through the use of manuals, our on-line training system, training guides, tests and tools. Follow prescribed processes and checklists. Assist with staff evaluations, help monitor and supervise the process.

Monitor appearance of employees.

Monitor associates to maintain proper behavior in workplace.

Help to assure our guest service/hospitality and guest room standards are carried out by the staff and received by our guests. Refer to Housekeeping job descriptions for guest room expectations.

Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems, or unusual matters of significance. Bring these items to his/her attention to allow prompt corrective action, when appropriate. Perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.

Conduct monthly departmental meetings, bi-weekly supervisor meetings, and monthly individual rap sessions.

Plan for and actively participate in the weekly hotel staff department meeting. Attend and actively participate in management meetings as directed by GM.

Plan, document, present and hold yourself and your team accountable for your own set of projects and goals for the property. Follow up appropriately. Attend and participate in monthly one-on-one meetings with GM. Review goals/projects with them and complete assigned tasks.

Follow all OSHA and hotel safety policies and procedures. Actively participate in safety meeting and the safety improvement process for the hotel. Ensure good safety practices, of employees and guests, and assist in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.

Develop and maintain a proactive Worker’s Compensation program. This will help to insure the safety and well-being of our employees. In the event an employee is injured, verify a First Report of Injury form is completed, within 24 hours of the incident. Confirm that all Worker’s Compensation forms get filled out and submitted.

Housekeeping and Laundry Responsibilities:

Visually inspect guest rooms and any associated areas for cleanliness and appearance. Verify guest rooms and laundry functions are cleaned thoroughly and correctly. To be done according to hotel and department standards, policies, and operational procedures through inspection and supervision of staff.

Maintain all equipment properly and keep/maintain complete supplies inventory.

Maintain new techniques and products to maximize the profitable operation of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department.

Assist room cleaners in securing all supplies and equipment for the satisfactory completion of jobs. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, neatness, and good repair of all hotel areas.

Acquire working knowledge of the department including in-house facilities, to respond to employee and guest requests and questions.

Expedite guest requests such as; extra linen or amenities, rollaways, cribs, irons/boards, etc. Attend to VIP rooms as instructed/requested.Report all suspicious persons, actions, or hazardous conditions.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred

Minimum of six months as room attendant or one-year comparable experience.

Combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Ability to learn, apply and teach hazardous chemical, bloodborne pathogen training.
