Location: New York, NY, Hybrid remote but must reside in the New York City commuting area for in person meetings

Job Description:
The Executive Director will lead MedShadow in advancing our mission of promoting drug safety and wellness through our website and social media presence. The ED will oversee all aspects of the organization's operations, including strategic planning, content development, community engagement, fundraising, and team management. The Executive Director will be a thought partner with the founding President on mission and strategic direction.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, experience in digital media and nonprofit management, and a passion for improving patient safety, wellness and healthcare outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Working with the board president, develop and implement strategic plans to drive the organization's mission and goals forward, collaborating with board members as necessary
- Lead efforts to expand MedShadow's reach and impact.
- Help create and manage MedShadow’s budget, working with the accounting firm and Board Treasurer and President
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership development.
- Content Development:
- Oversee and foster the creation of mission-centered drug safety and wellness content with high traffic on MedShadow website, YouTube channel, social media and podcasting.
- Ensure that all content is evidence-based health information focusing on our mission of drug safety, side effects, and wellness.
- Ensure that content is accessible, engaging, and meets the needs of our audience.
- Team Management:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to MedShadow staff members.
- Ensure that the staff interacts and cooperatively work to create outstanding and actionable educational content
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Encourage professional development and growth opportunities for team members.
- Identify areas of staff weakness and ensure training or supplemental support to improve.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and the media.
- Engage with our audience through social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels.
- Organize educational events, webinars, and campaigns to raise awareness about drug safety and wellness issues.
- Fundraising and Development:
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies to support MedShadow's programs and initiatives.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.
- Prepare or oversee preparation of grant proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials.
- Provide oversight of financial reporting and audits
- Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and reporting requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit management or executive leadership roles.
- Commitment to MedShadow's mission and values.
- Strong understanding of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and patient safety.
- Experience in digital media, content creation, and social media management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of fundraising and development.
- Occasional travel required.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
