Description
We are searching for an Executive Director, Editorial to develop and lead GM editorial thought leadership through surfacing, planning, creating, and editing high-quality content for GM publications, websites, and other channels. They will partner closely with the communications and marketing teams to create an amplification strategy to ensure maximum relevance and views. Through transformative storytelling, the Executive Director, Editorial will help highlight our innovative products and services and increase GM cultural relevancy.
Responsibilities
- Set the vision for GM-owned editorial content, including the tone, style, quality, standards, and ensure the content aligns with our goals as a company and Communications team
- Lead the creation of an editorial calendar and the end-to-end publication of owned content on relevant external channels
- Serve as the editor-in-chief for compelling owned stories about GM’s innovation, leaders, products, and business
- Source these stories by developing a deep understanding of the business and through discussions/interviews with company subject matter experts
- Stand up new GM channels as needed, including blogs
- Serve as the resident editor and expert writer
- Partner with marketing and other teams on amplification strategies for owned content
- Work with internal comms team to tell compelling employees stories that increase team culture and connection
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum
- 20+ years working in journalism and/or communications (ideally both)
- Strong entrepreneurial drive and self-starter mentality
- Amazing information-sourcing and writing skills
- Ability to produce high-quality content quickly and frequently
- Deep understanding of technology, the engineering mindset, and what it takes to be a successful business at scale
- Tenured experience with large, complex organizational change management and the development and execution of communications strategy with proven results
- Broad thinker with strong grasp of macroeconomic and global political climate
- Track record of working closely with high-level executives across the business and gaining their trust, from product to financial leaders
- Excellent project and people management skills
Additional Description
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
• The salary range for this role is $220,000-$320,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
• Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
