Branch Executive Director
Full Time Exempt position
General Overview: Provide leadership, supervision and accountability for management functions at the Cheshire Branch, including membership, childcare, aquatics, health and wellness, special events, and other related program areas. Uphold and promote the YMCA philosophy and values.
Position Details:
· Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000
· Benefits include: health, dental, disability and life insurance, paid time off and full YMCA membership and program reduced fees as defined by the YMCA Employee Handbook
· Retirement: Currently 14% of salary provided by the YMCA, after the vesting period
· Work Schedule: Monday – Friday with a minimum of 40 hours per week; weekends and evenings as needed
Requirements:
· This position requires a person with an Organizational Leader certification, including a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university or in pursuit of the Organizational Leader certification
· Must have advanced training and skills in organizational management with five to ten years of successful management in the YMCA
· Experience in fund raising, fiscal management, program development, communications, human resources management, board and committee development, and community relations
· Candidate is responsible for the achievement of the Branch’s goals and annual objectives related to the YMCA’s strategic plan
· Required to understand the basic nature of the YMCA as a voluntary organization, mission, cause, and the respective roles assigned to volunteers and staff
· Must have the ability to engage with and motivate key community volunteers
· Must have enthusiasm, high energy level, and experienced relationship building skills
Must have an understanding of the YMCA’s Diversity and Inclusion statement and how it relates and can be promoted in the community
· Will personally adhere and hold staff and volunteers accountable to all policies and procedures related to child abuse prevention
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Serves as the Branch Executive Director of the Cheshire Community YMCA; responsible for managing the Branch’s day to day operations and related business
· Works closely with the Board of Managers to implement sound fiscal management and program practices; recruiting and training volunteers annually
· Employs and develops highly skilled professional staff, and guides the Branch’s planning process in setting annual objectives related to the overall YMCA Strategic Plan
Financial Development
· Develops and administers the Branch’s annual budget and financial plan
· Develops and implements the yearly Annual Campaign plans, including special events with the assistance of the Development Director and/or Professional Staff
· Provides leadership to the current Annual Campaign and Special Events
· Develops community relationships with businesses, corporations, community leaders and individuals, that will help ensure the financial support of the Association
Board and Committee Development
· Works in concert with the Board Chair, Executive Committee, and Board Development Committee in continuing to strengthen the Board of Managers and related board committees
· Serves as staff officer to the following Cheshire committees: Executive and Facilities Committee
· Serves as staff representative to the following Association committees: Risk Committee
· Organizes New Board Member Orientation for new members on an annual basis or as required
· Participates in all Association Board meetings, strategic planning sessions and relevant association committees
Staff Management
· Supervises the Professional Level Directors at the Cheshire Branch: Senior Director of Youth Development, Early Childhood Director, Childcare Administrator, Membership Director, Health and Wellness Director, Head Swim Coach, and Facilities Staff and any newly developed positions that may report to the Branch Executive Director
· Institutes and monitors the progress of the Strategic Planning objectives for the Branch staff under the overall YMCA Strategic Plans
· Conducts regular performance reviews for all related staff who report to the Branch Executive Director
· Develops staff communication plans throughout the Branch and monitors its effectiveness
· Responsible for the Branch’s staff morale/culture. Evaluates and seeks methods for improvements through the management team and representative staff to enhance sense of team work and collaboration at the Branch
Community Relations
· Takes an active role in representing the YMCA throughout the community, advocating for YMCA support
· Encourages community agency collaboration with special projects and community events
· Supports and works for a successful relationship with the United Way partnership
· Be an active member on other community boards or agencies as appropriate
Self-Development
· Seeks advanced management training in: program planning, financial development, marketing, volunteer development, fundraising and community relationships
· Attends YPN, Regional and National conferences, and seminars as part of their annual development and training plans
· Keeps up to date on local & national issues through newspapers, journals, social media and interpersonal relationships
Administration
· Provides administrative leadership to the Branch in overall operations, staff management, motivation, and supervision
· Represents the YMCA throughout the service area implementing policies, procedures and administrative guidelines
· Provides staff leadership to the senior staff management team and meets regularly with the Branch Staff, monthly at minimum
Fiscal Management
· Works closely with the CEO and CFO in developing and monitoring the Branch’s budget
· Responsible to see that the Branch’s fiscal operations are highly organized and efficiently administered
· Responsible to see that the Branch’s fiscal management is sound and the annual operating budget is balanced at year-end
StrategicPlanning
· Act as the Staff officer responsible for the Branch’s strategic planning process in conjunction with the Association’s plan
· Accountable for establishing and monitoring annual objectives related to the overall YMCA Strategic Plans
· Initiates and involves the Strategic Planning process with professional staff and the Board of Managers
