The Teen Health Center, Inc. strengthens the health and well-being of Galveston’s youth, birth through 21 years of age, through easily accessible school-based care. Teen Health is a non-profit providing medical and mental health through clinics housed within five public schools. By removing many common barriers to care, Teen Health reduces health disparities to foster successful youth development and transition to adulthood. With a signed consent on file, patients can be seen without a parent or guardian present, so parents do not have to miss work. Appointments do not require private insurance, Medicaid, or payment of any kind.
Position Overview:
Teen Health’s Board of Directors seeks an enthusiastic, reliable, and resourceful Executive Director to lead our organization by assuming overall responsibility for all agency functions including staff, programs, funding, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Financial Management
● Monitor and maintain compliance with all funding and/or regulatory sources, including timely submission of any required reporting.
● Develop an annual budget for presentation to and approval by the Board of Directors.
● Maintain and expand revenue and/or fundraising activities to support current and potential future programs.
● Renew on-going funding sources in a timely manner.
● Identify and pursue new sources of funds to ensure financial sustainability.
● Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll, accounts payable and receivable, state and federal reports and filing, and annual financial audits.
Human Resources
● Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, providing guidance and support to staff, encouraging professional development and performance excellence.
● Hire direct agency employees and work in conjunction with the Medical Director and Mental Health Director to provide appropriate feedback on contracted staff.
● Administer all employee benefits such as health reimbursement and retirement accounts.
● Serve as administrator for various IT systems such as Office 365, EPIC EHR, PTO tracking system, learning management system, etc.
Stakeholder Engagement
● Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, community partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Board Relations
● Collaborate with the Board to provide regular updates, seek guidance, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
● Serve as ex-officio on the Board of Directors, planning meeting location and logistics and preparing consent and regular agendas, financial reports and other information requested by the Board.
● Recommend policies to the Board and establish procedures to implement policies.
● Work with the governance chair to ensure diversity of perspectives in board leadership.
Program Development and Evaluation
● Make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding potential new programming needed to meet needs in the community.
● Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services in alignment with organizational goals.
Public Relations
● Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
● Build and maintain a positive public image for the organization through public speaking and networking opportunities; media engagement; maintaining the website and social media; designing signage, fliers, promotional materials; etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the nonprofit sector to include employment and/or board of director involvement.
Knowledge and experience with grant writing and financial management preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Experience leading and managing teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Passion for and commitment to easily accessible healthcare for all.
Experience within medical, mental health, or school systems is a plus.
