Job Description:
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the culinary team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and other kitchen staff. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure a cohesive and efficient working environment.
- Menu Development: Create innovative and seasonal, diverse menus that reflect current culinary trends, seasonal ingredients, and the preferences of our clientele. Continuously explore new techniques, ingredients, and flavors to elevate our culinary offerings.
- Food Quality and Consistency: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency. Implement and enforce strict food safety and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Culinary Operations: Oversee all aspects of culinary operations, including inventory management, procurement, and cost control. Develop and maintain standardized recipes, portion sizes, and cooking methods to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house staff and management, to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional guest experiences. Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, and respect throughout the organization.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage the kitchen budget, including food and labor costs, to achieve financial targets while maintaining quality standards. Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Training and Development: Implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of kitchen staff. Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to foster professional growth and career advancement opportunities.
- Creativity and Innovation: Drive innovation and creativity in culinary concepts, techniques, and presentations. Stay abreast of industry trends and developments to ensure our culinary offerings remain fresh, exciting, and competitive in the market.
Qualifications:
- Min. 5 years proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar leadership role in an intimate, upscale dining establishment
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. No drama!
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and cuisines
- Proficient in menu development, cost control, and kitchen management
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead by example
- Passion for food, creativity, and innovation
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification is preferred
- References are required
