L3 Network Technician Job Description:
Client is looking for Networking Hand and Feet support professional responsible for providing first level Smart Hands support to second level and third level support teams
Required Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
o 3+ years of combined experience in a Site Support Technician and/or Infrastructure Technician role (or similar experience)
o Data center experience required
o 3+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support of networking or server devices. 3+ years of combined experience working in data centers, labs, or server room environments
o Candidate will be part of onsite team maintaining network environment in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Incident and or Requests.
o He/she will be providing Incident support by working with remote Level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components.
o He/she will be providing Service Request Support working with remote Network Support Teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers.
o Candidate will be participating in Hardware Rack & Stack installation of both Network and Server equipment, cable management, and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch leads, providing console access to Remote Team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration.

o Structured Network Cabling
o Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types RJ45
o Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types ST, SC, LC
o WIFI H/W
o Wireless LAN Controllers
o Wireless Access Points
o Networking
o IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc
o Experienced in Ethernet Switching H/W
o Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies etc
o Transceiver Types SX, LX, SR, LR etc
o Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge / Experience
o Fluke Testers: Copper - Wire Map, Link Test etc, Fiber OTDR Testing
o Fluke Aircheck: Wireless Testing
Competencies
o Proven ability to Install cable pathways, conveyances (i.e., ladder, trays, support systems)
o Knowledge of terminology pertaining to installation & service of cabling infrastructure for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
o Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read cable matrix blueprints, mechanical, and or electrical requirement documents.
o Complete physical cables installations and removal of cabling components, TOR (top of rack) switches, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, network gear and related communications infrastructure hardware and materials.
Essential Functions:
o Perform installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and 7, and Fiber Optic cabling.
o Assist with material control to ensure all required materials are available to complete the daily work.
o Ensure quality and safety guidelines are followed.
o Ensure ticketed requests are assigned, communicated, and addressed within customer SLA.
o Perform quality evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling systems, and perform replacement/repairs as necessary.
o Provide support in assisting data center teams and data center managers in accomplishing daily infrastructure new landings within SLA.
Other related tasks required:
o Receive Hardware shipments for data center equipment landings
o Validation Purchase Order accuracy of Hardware received
o Unboxing and Recycling of materials
o Move Equipment from dock to staging areas and or to DC racks
o Installation or retrofitting of server racks - rail and shelving installation
o Power and network cable installation and cable management
o Scanning and Labeling of installed devices (network or server)
o Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory
o Proper e-waste handling and disposal
o Equipment shipping and receiving as needed
o Provide Escort Service for vendors/techs
o Work Request Tasks from Service Now ticket system
o Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans required (i.e., data center hot isles)
o Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top of rack installations)
o Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible.
o Must be able to lift 35 lbs. solo.
o Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car/foot.
o May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods.
o Must have excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills.
o Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily), Windows 10.
The job entails working in data centers, networking rooms. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email, or face to face.
