Event: The Inspired Home Show (Chicago)

Date: Sunday, March 17th thru Thursday, March 19th

Need: March 15th (8hrs.), March 16th (8hrs.) March 19th at (4hrs.) 5:30 – 9:00 pm, March 20th at 9 a.m. (8hrs.), up to 30 – 35 hours

Job Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Temporary Events Porter to join our team for the upcoming event at The Inspired Home Show. The ideal candidate will work variable hours before and after the event begins, as referenced above, and be responsible for setting up and breaking down event spaces, transporting equipment, and providing support to ensure our events run smoothly and successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and dismantle event equipment, including tables, chairs, stages, and audio-visual gear, building IKEA and shelving units.
• Assist in the loading and unloading materials and equipment from delivery vehicles to the event venue.
• Ensure the safe transportation of materials within the venue, following all health and safety guidelines.
• Work closely with the event project manager, coordinators, and other team members to meet event setup requirements.
• Perform cleaning duties before and after events to maintain the venue's presentation.
• Provide hands-on support during events, including adjusting room layouts, addressing immediate operational needs, and assisting guests.
• Manage inventory of event materials and report any damages or shortages to the event coordinator.
• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in event setup, logistics, or a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to lift to 75 pounds without assistance.
• Availability to work outside of standard business hours as required by event schedules.
• This temporary position has the potential for recurrent opportunities based on company needs and individual performance.
