Description
SUMMARY: The Events Manager position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating events and activities designed to create or maintain a favorable public image or raise issue awareness for Boys & Girls Clubs - Alaska. The range of activities are tied to mission driven events of the organization like Youth of the Year, alumni engagement opportunities, key fundraising events, participating in events with community partners like United Way or key corporate partners, and organization representation at key community events. To be successful, the position will implement strategies in public relations, marketing and communications, and project management.
The position will serve as a member of the Resource Development Team, the staff liaison with the Board of Director's Events Committee, and also works with the Board's Resource Development Committee. Creating the space for all stakeholders to learn more about Boys & Girls Clubs and its mission and engage them meaningfully and encourage them to share of their time and talent is a central tenet of the position. Developing, planning, coordinating, and executing various fundraising and community events achieves the goal.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serve as the primary contact and lead for all of the organization's events
  • Manage activities, including planning events, interacting with donors to encourage ongoing contributions, and seeking financial and community support opportunities through contracts and special events
  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive timeline, including planning, promotion, communications, and execution of all events
  • Collaborate with the Resource Development Team to create and implement an annual events schedule
  • Assist with maintaining donor list and engage donors in the organization's donor management system
  • Maintain online fundraising platform
  • Develop a general understanding of Alaska Gaming Regulations
  • Collaborate with finance department to ensure that all event fundraising is collected and reconciled, appropriately tracked, processed, and acknowledged
  • Develop, document, and maintain internal processes and procedures

Requirements
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred experience of 3-5 years within non-profit fundraising and community events.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred or a willingness to complete CFRE certification within three years of employment.
  • Outstanding written communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Strong experience preparing reports.
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility.
  • Strong computer skills that include word processing, spreadsheets, database applications and the ability to learn new systems, as needed. The current office environment includes the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Teams. A tailored Salesforce (CRM) program, MyClubHub, is used for data management tied to resource development and volunteers.
  • Strong social media skills, including an understanding of key platforms, trends, and current best practices.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check.
  • Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Valid driver's license, current personal vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps, stairs and/or into planes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud.
  • The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide.
  • Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
