Position OverviewWork Schedule: 10 hours per week
This position coordinates and oversees event planning and facilitation across the CCO. The Events Director leads the planning of Trunk or Treat and Into the Streets Week and supports each of the CCO’s thirteen programs in their event planning initiatives. This position serves as a member of the CCO’s Executive Staff.
Job Description
  • Assist Executive and Managing Directors with the planning of Super Service Saturday in the fall.
  • Collaborate with Dole Institute Public Education Manager, CCO Creative Director, and CCO Communications Director to plan and hose Trunk or Treat in late October.
  • Plan Into the Streets Week and assist all 13 of the CCO programs with hosting an event that furthers the mission of the Center for Community Outreach. .
  • Plan the keynote event for Into the Streets Week in the spring, which involves finding and scheduling a speaker, as well as planning a reception for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Coordinate volunteering events for all 13 of the CCO programs in conjunction with program coordinators and the CCO Executive Staff.
  • Report directly to the Executive Director and Managing Director.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Staff, which includes attending staff meetings, peer-advising meetings, and Advisory Board meetings during the spring semester and during select fall semester meetings.
  • Execute other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications
  1. Must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours at KU.
  2. Strong written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Experience planning events.
  4. Experience with Community Outreach and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Previous experience working with the Center for Community Outreach.
  2. Experience with event-planning and working collaboratively with others on large-scale projects.
  3. Strong organization and time management skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Strong oral communication skills, as evidenced by interview process.
