Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Director of Events & Community Engagement to join our team at Sporting Kaw Valley. As the Director of Events & Community Engagement, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our organization's financial sustainability by spearheading and executing various fundraising initiatives. This position requires a creative and organized professional who can bring innovative ideas to the table and seamlessly coordinate events that resonate with our community.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the financial needs of teams within Sporting Kaw Valley.
  • Identify and evaluate potential fundraising opportunities, taking into consideration the interests and preferences of our diverse community.

Team Fundraisers:

  • Collaborate with team coaches and managers to identify specific fundraising needs for individual teams.
  • Devise and execute targeted team fundraisers to meet financial goals, ensuring alignment with the organization's values and objectives.

Mass Club Fundraisers:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to conceptualize, plan, and execute large-scale club fundraisers, such as casino nights and silent auctions, that engage the community and generate substantial revenue.
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including committee volunteers, venue selection, vendor coordination, budget management, and marketing.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to create promotional materials and effectively market events to maximize attendance and participation.
  • Collaborate with sponsors, partners, and local businesses to enhance fundraising opportunities and build lasting relationships.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for individual team fundraisers and mass club events, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximum return on investment.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports on fundraising efforts to the executive team.

In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, the Events Director will also be entrusted with the following tasks to further enrich the Community Engagement and overall success of Sporting Kaw Valley:

Sponsorship Management:

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure sponsorship opportunities to support the organization's financial goals.
  • Collaborate with sponsors to create tailored packages that align with their marketing objectives and contribute to the success of Sporting Kaw Valley.
  • Oversee the implementation of sponsor activations during events to maximize visibility and engagement.

Community Engagement:

  • Actively engage with diverse community groups, organizations, and stakeholders to enhance the organization's presence and impact in Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan and surrounding areas.
  • Develop and nurture partnerships that align with Sporting Kaw Valley's mission, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
  • Foster a sense of community and enthusiasm among Sporting Kaw Valley members through engaging and memorable events.
  • Solicit feedback and input from stakeholders to continuously improve and innovate fundraising strategies.

Additional Event Management:

  • Organize and execute various events throughout the year, including but not limited to end-of-season festivals, preseason team camps and friendlies, opening day celebrations, tryouts, tournaments, and the premier coach summit.
  • Follow through with grants received to ensure all criteria have been met.
  • Work with SKV leadership on the development of new programs, facilities, partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and relevant partners to ensure the seamless execution of these events.

Data Analysis and Feedback:

  • Utilize data analytics and participant feedback to assess the success of Events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Implement improvements and adjustments based on insights gathered, ensuring continuous enhancement of the overall event experience.

The Director of Events & Community Engagement will play a pivotal role in establishing Sporting Kaw Valley as a key contributor to the community in all SKV Markets, fostering meaningful connections, and creating memorable experiences for participants and supporters alike.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in event planning and fundraising, particularly within the sports or nonprofit sector.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Creativity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective fundraising experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to oversee events.

Position will report directly to the Executive Director.
