Position Summary
This member of the ZooTampa Events Production Department will be responsible for providing assistance primarily to the Event Production teams but may also assist additional teams as needed. Their workload will consist of graphic design, install and strike of events, assisting as needed with consumer events, and occasionally assisting other departments when needed.

Your day to day.
Essential Functions (including but not limited to):
  • Assist with content creation and revisions for digital and print collateral using Adobe and Microsoft.
  • Assist with the design, install, and strike of signage.
  • Assist with the install and strike of Consumer Event elements such as lighting, scenic, and audio visual.
  • Assist with painting and graphics projects around the zoo.
  • Assist with the construction of Consumer Event elements and other zoo projects.
  • Assist with Creatures of the Night, Christmas in the Wild, Karamu, ZooBrews, and Spring events on-site as a point of contact on event nights.
  • Assist with the daily maintenance and general operation of all zoo A/V Systems.
  • Manage and schedule all third party A/V companies for contracted work on zoo A/V Systems.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Event Hospitality, Entertainment Management, or Theater Arts is preferred, but not required.
  • One to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of event planning and execution.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite to include Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Understands the basic principles of design, theater, and events.
  • Experience with power tools and basic level of painting.
  • Able to adapt well and quickly to various other computer programs and technologies.
  • Creative with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities at one time.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently or collaboratively as needed.
  • Has a passion for learning new skills and is self-motivated.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week on-site (required).
Other Requirements:
  • Portfolio of pieces from personal or professional projects that show your understanding of Consumer Events, Design, and/or Theater Arts
  • Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts, including holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, and walking.
