Position Summary
As part of the Business Analytics team, the Director of Operational Efficiency serves as the key conduit between business information and stakeholders. This pivotal role involves the adept manipulation of complex financial statements, intricate reports and dashboards, ensuring the extraction and delivery of valuable insights. This director serves as the champion for zoo-wide process improvement while also initiating efficiency investigations and driving related projects.

Functional Priorities (including but not limited to):
  1. Champion zoo wide process improvement initiatives through cross-departmental collaboration. 30%
  2. Build effective relationships with zoo-wide departmental leadership, expertly interpreting financial and other data to offer actionable business and financial insights and recommendations. 30%
  3. Create and track KPIs to evaluate performance and bolster decision-making. 30%
  4. Provides leadership, training, coaching, and guidance as applicable. 10%
Your day to day.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field preferred; minimum of four years of higher education required.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience required; experience in the attractions industry, including theme parks, zoos, aquariums, or related tourism sectors, is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with certifications in process improvement and/or data analysis, such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, etc. are highly preferred.
  • Must be proficient in employing diverse analytical methods and tools for effective cost-benefit analysis.
  • Must excel in proactive engagement for project planning and meetings, with the capability to distill complex data into actionable, financially relevant insights. Must also swiftly identify and address operational issues to meet financial objectives.
  • Must excel in cost analysis, budget planning, and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to track, monitor and interpret business performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated performance providing information in a format that helps business units make informed decisions of consistently high quality.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret results honestly to improve future performance.
  • Problem analysis, prevention, and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills, and the ability to listen actively by summarizing, asking clarifying questions, and interpreting.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities logically and sensibly.
  • Must be flexible and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

Ability to meet all physical and cognitive requirements of the job, including but not limited to:
  • Working extended shifts during specials events
  • Sitting for long periods of time performing computer work
  • Working in extreme weather conditions
  • Navigating uneven terrain and various elevations
